The Calle Bulldogs got together Saturday night for some pizza and some praise from their coach as they celebrated another successful season in the Torrance city basketball league. Coach Ron passed out the trophies with encouraging words to the players in attendance. As shown by Ryan and Evan, the trophies can double as a nifty hood ornament. A good time was had by the boys and their families. Tanner was the only absentee as he was detained at his baseball practice by their brush with the justice system. At least they got on the tv news.
Thanks to Coach Ron and his Assistant Coaches Mike and Todd for their guidance and hard work this season. Thanks to Sally for making the arrangements for the party. And certainly thanks to the Bulldogs for another season of entertainment and excitement. These boys have been friends playing together for some years now. Good memories and the promise of a bright future.
Charles Dickens once wrote: It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. Happily for the Calle Bulldogs, this season was mostly the best of times. A season with equal numbers of wins and losses, but a lot more laughs and smiles than sadness and frowns. Friends with a common goal to learn some basketball and have some fun. Mission accomplished.
The Calle Bulldogs were determined to put things right for the last game of the 2010 season and they did just that under the guidance of Coach Ron assisted by Coach Mike. The Calle Bulldogs went nose to nose with the undefeated Richardson team today and hung tough with some hard luck and hard plays to keep it close in a well fought game. The Calle Bulldogs notched their first win of the season with a 29-17 victory over the 76ers. Plenty of second and third opportunities were the difference as the Bulldogs grabbed 34 rebounds including 15 off the offensive boards. That is about triple what the 76ers were able to do.
