On Monday #1 ranked Budweiser completed a 3 game mid season sweep of the #10 ranked Spartan. In Game 1 The Spartans sent ace Matt Boyer to the mound. Boyer gave a great performance but the Spartan offense wasn't able to muster any run support and the Spartans fell 2-1.
In game 2 The Spartans sent Casey Savage to the mound to face Budweiser for the second time. The Budweiser offense exploded on the Spartans and delivered one of their worse losses of the season 12-3.
In game 3 Will McNiff took the ball for the Spartans but was pushed out of the game after Budweiser hit the Spartans pitcher for 4 runs in the first. David Wiggins came in and kept the Spartans in the game as they scraped back and tied the game at 4, where it remained until a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 6th.
The story of the series was the Budweiser pitchers dominating Spartan hitters. The Spartans managed just 14 hits in the series while striking out 28 times.

In game one of the double header Sunday night, the Spartans hurt themselves with a few untimely errors. After patching up the wounds, the Spartans found some timely hitting from Adam Boyer to take the game 5-4. John Auble took the win in his first start of the year; battling through 7 to get the complete game win.

The St. Louis Spartans dropped a game Sunday night to the Bulldogs in HMML play. Despite another quality start by staff ace Matt Boyer the Spartan defense was shaky and the Spartan offense struggled after the long lay off due to rain.

The Spartans kicked off their first season in the MSBL with a 2-1 win on saturday against the Black Sox. The St. Louis Spartans enter the 2010 season as the #5 ranked team in the St. Louis area according to S.L.A.B. as they return just about everyone from a team that finished 37-8 and won a CYC league championship. This year the Spartans will make the jump to the more competitive MSBL and the newly formed HMML.

After a team vote it was decided that Matt Boyer and Lee Essner are the 2009 award winners. In the first year of the awards Boyer took home pitcher of the year honors while Essner wrapped up the MVP award.

After a reversal of fortune with the R Bar series the Spartans went on to win the CYC League Championship on Sunday against the Soxx. The Spartans offense pounded out 26 hits on the day. Matt Boyer was once again masterful giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run in 6 innings on his way to his franchise record 9th win.
