One of the most highly competitive games in some time.... Heated rivals NY&C and 26th had quite a game last night as NY&C held off the usual 26th late inning rally to win 11-8... With new high arc pitching rules and new harder balls being used, it was sure to be an interesting game from the start.... NY&C, who has had trouble with Pitching gave the ball to rookie Adam Baratta. Knowing he was going against the best team in the league over the past 3 seasons, knowing he was trying to end a 5 game skid and knowing he was going against NY&C rival, he was simply amazing on the bump.... Lights out pitching and D up the middle and is sure to make an impact as the season goes forward.... The game was quick and played at an incredible high level as both teams combined for 2 throwing errors and that's it.... The Co-star of the game was SS Sam Fusaro who went 3-3 with 2 HR and 4 RBI... Both HRs were monster moon shots that really set the tone for The Offense... Other offensive stars were Ray Marsden with a 2 Run HR, and Matt Dailey and Joe Chargin with clutch 2 out RBI's...... With other members of other teams in the league watching the great performance by both teams, it is sure to leave an impact on this league. This could be the year that NY&C cracks through with a title, it would be their first since they traded the disgruntled Novak to 26th.....

Spring is in the air which means a new season isn't far behind! Wednesday, May 5th is opening day and Sonny McLean's has a new sponsor. NY&C Pizza in Santa Monica has graciously offered their support (and t-shirts, I hope) for the new season. Welcome aboard, NY&C!
By no means does this end the team's relationship with Sonny McLean's. Sonny's has been a great sponsor for the past few years and will continue to be a...

Unless you want to the batting title to be renamed "The Garfunkel," somebody else better step up and win it! Gfunk has the triple crown with only two games left. Sorry if this is a jinx, Gfunk.

Like last season, I am offering $50 to the winner of the batting title. Last season's winner, Seth Garfunkel, graciously donated his to the bartenders at Sonny's. You however, may do whatever you wish with it, assuming you can beat out Gfunk!
Best of luck!

Opening day - the electricity in the air, the smell of hot dogs and popcorn, people watching, fireworks - Santa Monica softball has none of these. Instead, 10 determined men took the field and opened the season with a big win. The boys from Sonny's finished off last season's playoff finalist, More Joy, 18-17 in five innings.
In the top of the first, More Joy put up a quick six runs before Sonny's could...

Please welcome Sam Fusaro and Ray Marsden back to the team! League play starts up this Wednesday at 9pm vs. More Joy. Let's help More Joy realize their 1st place regular season finish was just a fluke.

I'll start out by saying that i wrote this long wonderful story about the game and it was erased by accident and it's now 4:30AM and this is now gonna be a quick Fix so daddy can get some sleep....
We were missing 4 very important parts of the team as Nev, Sam, daily and Tony were out so we needed to step up our game and step up our game we did....

NY&C Pizza 10, Sonny's 2 9

After two straight one-run losses, Sonny McLean's bounced back with a one-run win, beating Sonny's 2, 10-9. Three weeks removed from a ugly play that almost cost him an eye, rookie Chris Schindler led the way with three hits, including a solo home run to lead off the 3rd inning. Shin drove in two more runs in the 4th inning with a double. His 4 home runs and 17 RBIs lead the...

NY&C Pizza 12, Back Crackers 3
| Posted by Michael Dussault on September 2nd, 2009 | |
At 6:30pm Assistant Coach Mike Dussault still didn't know who he would have take the mound against last years championship rival, Back Crackers. Dussault made one last call to Dougger Anderson's Wife/Agent Peggy Anderson, for the injury update on her Hubby/Client. "Dougger Can't Play", she explained he had been struck in the leg and could barely walk. "Dougger did say this" she said, "Tell the boys to win one for the Dougger"
Dussault made a...

NY&C Pizza 21, Sonny's 2 20

What happens when a bar sponsors three teams in the same league? Apparently, one of them gets lazy and doesn't even try to come up with a clever name. Such is the case with Sonny's 2. The new addition to the Wednesday night upper league fell to 0-7 with a 21-20 loss to its namesake, Sonny McLean's.
For 4-1/2 innings, it looked like Sonny McLean's was going to have another low-scoring, defensive game...
