Bears 19, Del's Saloon 7

For Every Rise...

Since June 30th 2009, Juan has dominated the stat lines for the Bears. In his debut season Juan took home the Triple Crown hitting at a .688 clip with 6 home runs and 35 RBIs as he set single season records in both average and RBIs.
Juan's statistical dominance carried over into the new season and the new year as he once again was tied or led the team in all statistical categories after the first two games of the season.

The start of 2010 will be remembered for several things. The Mark McGwire Steroids Confession, the coaching turmoil at USC and subsequently the Fall of the Juan. His unprecedented stay atop the leader boards for 26 consecutive weeks was impressive.

Since the loss of Excalibur Juan has shown more and more signs of mortality. The lack of the long ball, pop-ups, runners left on base; he has not been the same since Wonderboy took its final swing. Juan's grasp of all offensive statistical categories was finally broken on Tuesday Night.

After six consecutive weeks off, the Bears finally took the field for the first time in the new year to welcome the visiting team Del's Saloon. Del's was a recent middle league call up after seeing some success in the C- League taking 2 out of the last three Championships. Del's saw some early success in the league winning their first 2 games including an upset win over the always vulnerable Upper League team Happy Endings. After some early success Del's had lost two in a row coming into tonight.

Six weeks was apparently not a long enough break for Juan so he took 10 more minutes and missed most of the top of the first as Del's managed to string a few together and put 3 across to take the 3-0 lead as the Bears were blanked in the bottom of the frame.

Del's started strong holding the lead through the first 2 1/2 innings before Bears pulled even at 6 in the third and pulled ahead with a 10 run fourth. The final of the game was Bears 19, Del's 7.

Game Highlights and lowlights included:

Juan went 2 for 4 with an RBI dropping his season average to a pedestrian .750 as he fell from the top batting average spot.

With a 3 for 4 night, Tyler was the game MVP driving in 5 on 2 home runs and scoring 3 times.

Seth was close second in the voting also posting a 3 for 4 night as he brought in 5 on a home run and double.

With the final tally of the stats after the third game of the season, John leads in average (.833) and OBP (.833). The surprise power leader on the team is Tyler leading in Slugging % (1.417), Home Runs (3) and RBI (10).

A special mention should go to Marc who increased his average .022 points with his 1 for 4 showing on the night.

Every great start to a career has an end. Perhaps like LT for the San Diego Chargers, Juan will be the second sports icon of our generation to get dragged out of the spot light. Let's just hope Juan can put one last blip on the map like LT did with his viral hit The Electric Glide. Awesome.

Juan if you decide to grab a Flip Video and do this thing may I make a suggestion? The Juanster Mash.
