ABC Crush Slugs Opening Night!
ABC Wipeouts 14, Slugs 7
Bret Hirst first pitch of the ABC Wipeouts Disney League Season
The ABC Wipeouts with a full complement of 16 players, including five rookies, took on the Slugs in a re-match of last season’s Championship game.
A warm welcome to our rookies Ricardo, Mary Anne, Todd, Caitlyn and Katherine, who all did a good job in their first action with the defending Champion Wipeouts.
The home team ABC Wipeouts took the field first and allowed only one score in the top of the first, thanks in part to a nice grab of a line drive by Bret. In the bottom of the first the ABC crew sent ten batters to the plate, resulting in 7 hits and 5 runs to take a 5-1 lead after one complete. In the top of the second the Slugs fought back with two hits and one score but the rally was cut short after Bret snagged another liner and the Wipeout lead had been narrowed to 5-2. In the bottom of the second Brad got us started with a single, followed by a base hit by Kessia with Brad advancing all the way to third. Next Jeff ripped a single to easily drive home Brad and the Wipeouts led 6-2 after two innings.
In the top of the third the Slugs made it a ball game by going yard for a solo Home Run and putting together a 4 hit attack to plate two scores and cut the Wipeout lead down to 6-4. It could have been worse but the Slugs made the mistake of hitting to our vacuum cleaner shortstop Nick, who swallowed up a grounder, rushed over to second base to force the runner and hurled a throw over to first to just nail the runner for the inning ending double play. In the bottom of the third the Wipeouts also put together a four hit attack which netted 2 scores to match the Slugs in the inning and double their lead at 8-4 after three innings.
In the top of the fourth the Slugs could only muster two hits and one more run and still trailed by a score of 8-5. The bottom of the fourth brought up Wipeouts veteran Brandon, who we hadn’t seen on the field on a regular basis since 2013. It was a smashing welcome back as Brandon absolutely crushed a pitch to deep left-centerfield over the Slugs outfielders that rolled to the fence for an easy
Home Run! A double by Brad and a single by rookie Mary Anne gave the Wipeouts another score to go back up by five at 10-5 after four innings.
In the top of the fifth the Slugs first batter ripped a line drive to centerfield that Ricardo rushed over and grabbed for the first out. After only one more hit and two outs, the Slugs were held scoreless for the first time in the game, still trailing 10-5. In the bottom of the fifth ABC sent 7 batters up to the plate that resulted in three scores, including an RBI single by Scott and a 2 run single by T.J., to give the Wipeouts a daunting 13-5 lead after five innings. In the top of the sixth the Slugs showed a murmur of life, but could only rally for 3 hits and 2 scores as they still trailed big by a 13-7 margin. The Wipeouts, with the coming football season on their minds, put a single run on the board in their last at bat for the ‘extra point’ and a touchdown lead of 14-7.
After a leadoff hit and an out by the Slugs in the top of the seventh, Nick put a pin in the Slugs heart when he reached out snatched a line drive to rob the batter of a hit for the second out. Then Ricardo stopped the suffering when he squeezed his glove for the last out and the Wipeouts were victorious by a final of 14-7.
ABC Runs out of Gas in Final, Falls to Access Hollywood
Access Hollywood 22, ABC Wipeouts 8
After losing the coin toss for home field advantage, the ABC Wipeouts loaded the bases in our first at bat only to leave them all stranded, resulting in a scoreless top of the first. The well-rested Access Hollywood team struck first, putting together a 4 hit attack to take an early 3-0 lead after one complete.
The second inning was no different than the first for ABC as they were held scoreless thanks to an inning...

ABC Wipeouts 26, BTBSTRONG 17
A few weeks ago the ABC Wipeouts took on BTBSTRONG in the first leg of a doubleheader A Division playoff game. About half way through, Access Hollywood was in the stands behind the STRONG side resting up and waiting to see who its opponent would be in the Championship game.

ABC Wipeouts 20, Access Hollywood 11
Before Monday night's final game of the 2017 Burbank Corporate Coed Winter Softball regular season, the ABC Wipeouts knew they had only one option and that was victory. ABC Wipeouts 10, Justice League 5
With a full complement of male and female players, the visiting Wipeouts got off to quick start when leadoff hitter and shortstop Nick ripped a single to right field. After a pop out to the Justice League first baseman, Tony ripped his 10th Home Run of the season to give the Wipeouts a 2-0 advantage after a half inning. In the bottom of the first, Justice League came back with two hits, one a double,...
WIPEOUTS Too Strong, Streak to 3-0 in Round Two
ABC Wipeouts 19, BTBSTRONG 16
As game time approached, the ABC Wipeouts only had the bare minimum of 3 female players in the dugout. To make matters worse, the opposing team gave up their home field advantage because they also only had 3 females present so we
had to take the field to start the game without a second baseman. The strategy worked for team STRONG as they ripped 4 hits and capitalized with 6 big runs to take an early...
ABC Survives Burbank Dust Storm then Knock off Slugs
ABC Wipeouts 17, Slugs 13

ABC Looking to Advance to A League After Blowout Win!
ABC Wipeouts 28, Deadliest Catchers 9
The Wipeouts barely survived a forfeit when at game time we had the bare minimum 8 players and were forced to give up our Home Field advantage to the Deadliest Catchers. That didn't prove to be much of a problem as the ABC team sent ten batters to the plate and before the inning was over the Wipeouts had put 5 big runs on the board.
In the bottom of the first, the Catchers slammed a...
