RED SOX 6, Black Sox 4

Black Sox, Fall River, MA
Posted by Allen Perreault on July 17th, 2008

FALL RIVER-With an ice pack sitting on his right shoulder, Westport native and Ex-Major Leaguer Allen Levrault was sitting in the first base dugout. Even though, the Red Sox defeated his Black Sox club 6-4 Thursday night at Chew Park, it was like a victory for Levrault. Levrault scattered four hits, while striking out four. The lone run Levrault gave up was unearned.

"I feel awesome" said the Sox hurler after he had pitched three innings...

I Came Back For This?
Acme 15, No Names 15

Acme, Glendale, CA
Posted by Robin Blomquist on July 17th, 2008

With about half of the Acme roster either banged up from tourney play or otherwise unavailable it took some scrambling for Coachum to put a full team on Field #3 for the early game Thursday evening. Our opponents were the sub-500 No Names so it seemed very likely we were in for some glorified batting practice. An hour or so later it was clear we not only needed some batting practice but some...

The summer months at Santa Monica Memorial Fields offer several things that you don't have the opportunity to experience throughout the other eight months of the season such as warmer nights, make shift line-ups to cover for guys on vacation and of course the dreaded return of the 6:40pm game. The 6:40pm game is a very unique animal. With it you get the heaviest of rush hour traffic, guys forced to change in their cars...

Ferraro Brothers, Hermosa Beach, CA
Posted by Matt on July 13th, 2008

When you're fighting for first place, you gotta not only play hard, but smart. And that's exactly what Gary W. had in mind in the top of the sixth inning.

The Ferraro offense had been listless, shut out through three innings until finally scoring five in both the fourth and fifth. In the sixth inning, down to their final out because of little time remaining, Gary W. realized that if Andrew, who had just walked,...

Bears, Santa Monica, CA

The Bears returned to the field Tuesday night for their second meeting with Coyotes this season. Coming off their first loss the previous week against Hooters, the Bears were looking to bounce back as they squared off with the only team in the league still scratching for that first win.

The Bears were able to piece together nine players for the game after taking a causality report filled with familiar names. Tyler (ankle), Seth (shoulder)...

Posted by Scott Hansen on July 8th, 2008

I don't think by any stretch did the ump blow this game for us. We likely would have lost it anyway but I think there were at least 4 or 5 calls that all went in favor of Fielders Choice. WOW... Some were close and others were fairly obvious.

We drew a tuff post season schedule. Both Fielders Choice and Xango held us to season low offensive numbers and we stayed pretty true...

Figuring Out their Pitcher a Problem

Well Xango has a solid pitcher that is for sure. In two games against them we have hit horribly. He has a crazy backspin that had nearly all of us scratching our heads all night. We had a season low hitting average at just .200 In the regular season game against them we did not do much better just hitting .286.

We had only 6 hits all night. No...

Half Ball Dominance

Posted by Scott Hansen on July 8th, 2008

Well the Honey Buzzers coward and NO SHOWED. So we had a sweet warm up game of half ball. We hit an fielded well. It was a lot of fun. All though a massive disappointment especially for the Cullimore family who traveled from SLC and his schedule only allowed him to be there from 6:00 - 7:00. He brought a lot of loyal fans with him too. That...
